Help!! Weird window switch problem - 2000Excursion

Last night driving home i was fiddling with the windows at the stop light, making sure they were all un-froze (minnesota) - well all of them worked but drivers side rear. so at the stop light I reached back and opened it with the single witch on door - it went down but would not go up!

so: LR window i get nothing from the master switch, and only down movement from the door switch, not up..

i swapped switches from RR door, and i get the same. the LR switch works fine in RR door.

tried a 'new' master switch today - same thing - no change.

maybe i have a bad wire somwhere?? anyone have any ideas?

Reallllly need this window up (Because Minnesota in December)

any tricks/cheats to at least get the window up in mean time??

thank you for any help!

ok, just pull the door panel and apply battery power directly to the motor?

Well to one side yes, you need to figure out what side though. If you're good with wire leads you could just unplug the motor and run the power and ground to it.

could i just unplug the wire harness at the switch and jump the appropriate wires there, instead of pulling the door panel? Does that work that way?

still need to figure out the root cause too...

Actually I don't see why not... I see a few reasons it won't work but I see just as many that it will. I would try that first before pulling the panel, good thinking!

Probably the wires that run thru the rubber grommet from the door to the body. Inside that grommet you have 1 or more now cut wires.
Nice and tight fit in there, but it can be done to splice them. Ask me how I know.

My passenger rear door did that to me while on vacation, just loaded up and ready to head to the beach. The rest of the family went to the beach and I stayed back and fixed some broken wires. Hot fun.

yup - went out last night and grabbed onto the bundle of wires in the rear door jamb, while pushing the button. up she went. must be a wire or 2 in there broken. at least the window is up, and when it get's above eleventybillion below outside, i'll go after fixing it for good.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE INPUT!

love my Excursion...
