I am looking to replace my header gaskets as the left one blew out recently. I asked my muffler shop (who I trust and who installed the below exhaust system) if there is anything better than what came with my stainless Ford Racing Headers and he is looking into aluminum something or the other, and if my heads have round or square ports.
Any feedback or suggestions would be welcome.

Stainless Shorty Ford Racing Headers with 2.5 in custom mandrel bent Y-pipe into a straight flow cat, Flowmaster and 2.5 single out behind left rear wheel.
I use to like the copper metal looking ones , Mr Gasket I think makes them . I had better luck with them . Haven't had headers for years though..... Just a thought !
Your heads have square ports. I just ordered a set of JBA headers and mine came with plasticky/rubbery ones and I think they aren't that good (I know next to nothing when it comes to gaskets). Im also Interested to see whats the best gasket for headers.
These are what they look like:
But since your flanges are so thin you have to run them. Any gasket is good, but the bolts are what make the difference. They need to stay TIGHT. Looking in to some stage 8 locking bolts
I used the generic paper ones that came with my pacesetters and they work great(on my 2nd year). I tightened them slowly and evenly and made sure they were tight all the way around after a couple heat cycles. These headers have very thick flanges(5/16"?) so I think that helps.

Also help with the type of port is welcome.
Hello and good afternoon.
Percy's Header Gaskets was recommended to me so I bought the Carbon XX 2000 Degree set. The ports are square.
Thanks everyone. I already have the high speed bolts and lock washers installed when I had the headers initially installed. I went with Fel-Pro gaskets originally but they blew out after 2.5 or so years.
I am going with Copper crush gaskets that my exhaust man found after some internet research. I'll let you know end results.
