I work in my garage.i bought the garage, the house was free .at least that is what i tell people anyway.i can't remember how big it is but its a large 3car.two doors are 10' wide. there is a room on the one end i use for storage and my air comp is in the back of it.
i can't remember how deep but my lbcc fits plus the very deep work bench plus 4' to walk.believe me..it sounds big but i have it packed. with my other projects so right now my wife is parking outside.that is not ideal.
its amazing how quickly a big space can fill up with junk, isn't it?
my barn is the same way. I've been pretty good at keeping my lift bay open. I have dedicated one bay to a large work table, the drill press, bench grinder, sander, radial arm saw, etc. the third bay is filled with junk from my part-out and other stuff that just gets dumped there. I built a loft over the power-tool bay, but definitely need build some more storage. it burns me up to think I have 3 bays and just one is usable for vehicles right now!
This is a very standard two car garage. It BARELY fits my nissan maxima and her van into it.
This pic is showing just half. The truck is just to the right of this picture taking up other half of garage.
I have about 1" of extra space on length to fit truck in it and I'm not complaining! I can fit it in no problem.
If it's too cold out, I'll just creep back and forth under it to get back into the house. Believe me, I was very thankful for the concrete floor when I was doing this big job of swapping a tranny! whew...I still almost died...
I'm 23 years old and I own nothing except my trucks and a pretty decent amount of tools that I've bought, so I'm stuck using other peoples shops for all the work I do. I cannot thank any of them enough for allowing me to use their shops and in many cases their tools to get projects done.
You sir need to hold off on the trucks for a bit and buy yourself a house and shop
Organization is definitely key - I feel like I spend the first 20-40 mins of any project cleaning up from the last one. Maybe if every project didn't end with a "when are you coming up to the house to see your family again" call from the wife, I could clean up at the proper time.
I used to have a 21 x 21 garage I could pull the truck into before we moved. Now I have a smaller 20 x 20 that I cannot drive into (door is to low). So I've been working in my gravel drive way with 0.75 plywood.
But I just pulled the permits for this...
40' x 32' under roof with a 12' high main bay. I'm planning to add a 14' x 32' lean-to on the right side later.
