The strange thing is that my truck - pretty much the same as the OP's, except a year later (1996), w/ the straight 6 and manual trans (instead of 5.0 auto) has a higher towing capacity (8200 lbs)
OP's: '95, 5.0 V8, auto, 3.55 gears = 7500 lbs
Mine: '96, 4.9 straight6, manual 5 sp, 3.55 gears = 8200 lbs
You would think same gears, bigger engine would equal more towing capacity. Am i reading these wrong?
Kelley Blue Book

Also, after doing some research, thank God we both have the 3.55 gears, otherwise we wouldn't be able to tow anything!!!!

joegeds your not reading that wrong it is wrong. Max towing for your rig is 3500lbs according to the manual. Transmission and gears are killing the rating.
https://canada.fleet.ford.com/englis...ls/results.asp
go to page 231.

op tow rating is 7100lbs

yeah he is right, with a manual trans cut that number in more than half, it could be that much with 3.55s and an automatic but even still it might not be that much, my 92 4.9 auto with 3.08s is good for 5600 pounds, yes it will pull twice that and it has but that is what it is rated at

For the op:

For joegeds:

I have a 5.0l with a light duty 5sp, 3.55 gears and 33in tires. I pull anywhere from 7000lbs to 10000lbs about a dozen times a year. No issues with power or stopping as long as it is a balanced load.
