I have a 97 f150 xlt 4x4 with the towing and offroad package. My question is did either of thesse packages include a different gear ratio as opposed to a more base model. If so what is the ratio?
All 4X4 models with an automatic transmission have a 3.73 axle ratio as standard equipment, the Trailer Towing Group includes a 3.73 axle ratio as well. With your configuration the only axle alternative is the limited slip option.
It says its a 3.55 w/ls?????????? If so that ls is either bull or it broken, because I haven't never felt it kick in. And those tires have been a spinnin.

I have never felt limited slip "kick in". Either a single wheel spins (open diff) or both wheels spin(LS). This while going in a straight line. You can alwayt defeat LS, especially in a turn.
So when you stomp it, do you leave 1 skid mark, or 2?
Assuming nothing is broke, it should be 2.
I didnt really mean feel it, just meant see the effects of it. I guess I do though because I remember from offroading back right wheel was in air, spun when i hit gas and the back left did something like a quiver when i hit the gas, its pretty much useless for offroading. But I thought since that one wheel was in air, power would stop going to it and it would all go to the wheel that was on the ground.

I wanted to check if I had ls or not shortly after I got my truck. Sadly, stomping on the gas doesn't leave any skidmarks. For being a 5.4, I think that's kind of pathetic.
I've got 4.6L, only time even get close to that is if I floor it when I'm taking a turn right after I start moving...they are pretty heavy trucks. I guess you could do a brake stand if ya really wanted to see it, but aint worth the wear and tear itd do to the tranny.
