changed the thermostat and im sure i got coolant and grease on it but it squeakys now. newish belt, tried a dab of belt dressing and made it worse, so i got a wet rag and held it to the belt and pulleys i could get at, and it would quiet down but then would get noisy right after i took the rag off. tried a dab of degreaser on a rag and held it to the pulleys and also made it worse. what the heck is going on with these little irritating annoyances?!
Check your tensioner and make sure its ok. Means when you put pressure on the belt wiping it off and the noise goes away, maybe its losing its tension and squeaking, just a thought. I'd check the idler pulley too.
