I'm thinking of getting my dad a tachometer for his 1967 F-100 for christmas.
We replaced the I6 with a 302 crate motor a few years ago and never put a tach on it. The internals are all stock with a Edelbrock 650cfm carb, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and Ford racing headers. It is backed by an AOD. I seen someplaces that redline is 5000 and some say 5500 or 4750. Does anyone have any input?
Thanks and Merry Christmas.

It all depends on which crate motor. I.E. what it was built with. Cam,Valve springs, compression, heads, etc. Example. Say a 1990 Mustang GT probably had a red line of 5500 RPM but Peak horespower was 4200 RPM. More of a tame engine probably 500 RPM less IMHO. Going to redline is going past the engines peak power though so bouncing off the redline will net a slower ride.
