Winter mats really needed?

I use WeatherTechs in both my trucks and cars. They are definitely expensive mats but they definitely protect the best.
I paid $229 for my WeatherTechs. That covers the front and back both over the hump (unfortunately I do not have a center console, only a jump seat...anybody want to trade a console for jump seat?
)
I bought the truck with rubber mats but the first day I hooked up my trailer I was in ankle deep mud. The sticky mud still got on the carpet by the hump. The weathertechs fixed this.
