??? Knock Sensor Location, Performance from 351W swap.
I'm planning on doing alot of towing once the race car is finished so I'm going to swap in a 351W for the 302 in my 94 F-150. I haven't had a chance to look at my truck yet but someone told me that the 302 has a knock sensor. They also told me that the old style 70's block that I'm going to use does not have a provision for the knock sensor. Is this true?, Do I have to use a late model block?
As far as the engine buildup, I'm planning on a roller cam conversion with a cam in the E-303 range, an old set of DOOE 351W heads and the factory mass-air system, headers, hi-flow cat, Flowmaster, etc. I had a similar motor in a little street car and it really had some low end grunt. Do you guys think my gas mileage will suffer when I'm not towing? I get 15 mpg now with my 302, 3.55 gears and AOD, but it really sucks when it comes to towing all of that weight around.
Thanks in advance guys,
John Bozzelle
