for some years, I have been putting together metal fabrication equipment and looked forward to the day I could make some neat stuff for the Ex.
With two purchases this month, a Hypertherm 45 plasma and a finger brake kit from SWAG off road, I finally have it all together.
MIg, Tig, and stick welders, Plasma cutter, weld/fab table, Press and finger brake, bandsaw, grinders, consumables, wire, rods, air system with overhead reel, Lathe, drill press, Oxy/acet setup Victor and Meco midget, and a slew of hand tools.
I think there is no longer a reason NOT to start making things for the Ex.
I just have to go out and clean and organize the garage now and sort it all out.
Thanks for the replies, folks. I actually would enjoy making stuff for people. It's too cold out there now for a big project, though. 26° F. Sigh...
Lordy I'm having fun playing with this stuff today. Even though I'm freezing my butt off out there in the unheated garage.
I'm going with the wife to Harbor freight to get a 44' roller tool cabinet and top chest tonight. I need somewhere to put the tools. My current 42" chest is overflowing. The New one will be filled in just a few days I think. Too many tools of all types just laying around.

Sounds like you need to put a garage heater on your list.
I used to fabricate all of the time in my garage. One time I went out to work on my rig when it was 1 degree outside, it was still too cold to work in the garage with the door closed.
Get one of those propane powered salamanders. (I went with propane because I can stand the smell of kerosene). I'd get mine going about 45 minutes before 'starting work', and it would warm the garage up enough to ditch the heavy coat. I think I picked it up for like $100 bucks, and the propane tank from the grill. Toasty!
Oh, I have a heater, but the garage is unfinished as of yet. That is my spring through summer project.
The heater is a kerosene turbo 125,000 BTU, and all it does Is make it a little warmer only while it is running full blast. That huge vent surface at the eaves an peak just let it all fly out.
This is what I'm doing in Sketchup to try to model the garage and see what will fit where, and determine what all I need to build to make it work. The modeling is far from finished, and what you see was about 10 to 12 hours for my feeble mind to create.
I saw you mentioned a 44" cabinet. I ended up getting a whalen 72" tool box with heavy casters and a wood top for a good deal at costco a couple years ago. It seems pretty solid for what I have used it form. Not the most expensive either.

Just how big is your garage and what does a 44' roller tool box weigh? Sorry, couldn't resist.
You can make me a locking steel drawer setup for the rear cargo area. The Highway patrol here has them in their Tahoe's and I think one would be sweet, but I'm not ready to pay $1000 for what they have.
