PS Fluid

hey guys, i got a 2002 Ford F150 with the 4.2L.. in the book it says the PS should be mercronV..only problem is, i have mercron LV and mercron XP and dextron.. the only issue is that in order to get mercron 5. we have to fill out alot of paperwork and await a week to get it all approved.... so my question, will dextron, mercronLV pr mercron SP work????

thanks

LV should work ok in that application.
What's this about filling out paper work and getting approval for transmission fluid if you don't mind?
Good luck.

steering fluid type is generaly not that important, so they use the same fluid that the transmission is filled with. What are you using for trans fluid in the 2002 ?

If you have the typical dexronIII/mercon I would use that because it tends to be the cheapest. If not any transmission fluid should work just fine. The steering system just needs a basic hydraulic oil, all transmission fluids are a hydraulic oil just with different additive packs.
