re-keying tailgate
Does anyone know if the tailgate lock can be re-keyed? The previous owner apparently replaced the tailgate and/or handle for some reason and the truck key does not work in the lock.
This is on a 2006, so the tailgate is similar to those used on Superduties until 2007, and F150s from 97-2003.

When I purchased a 2008+ tailgate i needed the same thing done. I simply took the lock cylinder out of the handle and found a local locksmith who could rekey it. I have done this with other cars as well, just have to make sure the person has the tools for it.
