Almost lost my tailgate
We have been having a rash of tailgate thefts in my neighborhood and they tried to get mine last night but couldn't. I have bought a tailgate lock when I first bought the truck and installed it. That lock kept them from stealing my tailgate. The reason of the post, in trying to steal my tailgate the thieves broke my handle lock by busting out the cylinder. I am sure they pound the cylinder into the tailgate and it is rolling around in the inside to the gate.
My question is, if I replace the cylinder on the handle, what keeps some other thief from trying to still it later. Is there an after market handle that thieves know can't be compromised and which one? I want something that tells the thieves my tailgate is lock by a very hard lock and to try somewhere else. I don't want them to bang up all over my door handle.
