warn lock out hubs

Hi i have a few question or more like what people think of the warn hubs if you have them and if you do please post a picture of them i kind of want to see how they fit in the center cap or if there is trimming necesary... also do they freeze up in the winters i live in minnesota so our winter are harsh on vehicles and come to find out i have two locking hubs that are bad and thus the reason for the whistling sound... i can get warns for a little cheaper than oem and ive heard ups and downs about them thank you and marry christmas

I really like that I put warn's last month. My 4wd is working much better. Feels nice and responsive.
Anyways.. I was expecting that I was going to have til trim the cover but it turns out, they don't stick as far as the OEM ones so I didn't have to do anything. No pics though. Sorry.

I also have Warns and love them, I have aftermarket wheels so a pic wont help you much. I like knowing the hubs are either locked in or free. None of this one side on and one side off stuff. Mine is in storage all winter so I haven't had to lock them in when its icy..

It depends on the type of wheel you have.

There are pictures in quite a few threads here in the Ex forum as well as other forums showing how the Warn hubs sit inside the OEM wheels. You just gotta do a little digging for the threads.

Downs?

I've yet to hear a single bad thing about the Warn hubs. What did you hear that was negative?

I have 1. Color! Makes it hard to do an all black vix.
I was originally planning on doing a black wheel and now I'll have to do one that has some chrome details so it goes together.
That's just my negative. LOL.

Would it void the warranty though?
I'd be worried that I'd get paint somewhere I shouldn't and mess stuff up. I have just that kinda luck. Lol

i also have the limited wheels and hub caps... looks like they fit pretty snug i think im going to break down and buy a set for the ex i like old school mechanics too i really dont like auto 4wd just causes more trouble later on when it takes two seconds to get out and lock your lockers in... also with the warns do they have a certain speed limit you can drive with them locked in ? also someone was saying they have all metal internals unlike the stocks ?

I like my stock ones, they fit like they are supposed to and work the same as the Warns plus they came with the truck so what's to lose?

You will have to plug off the vacuum lines because those will no longer work with the Warns. You will have to get out and manually lock them whenever you need 4x4..

It takes almost a full turn to lock it into position. I don't see how it would just "slip". Sounds like a defective pair maybe?

I just plugged the vacuum lines with a screw so I wouldn't have any leaks. The barb fitting on one side was broken on mine so I couldn't leave it hooked up even if I wanted it.

The autos are great when they work. Mine didn't and the warn's gave me the peace of mind. Yeah I have to lock them but if I think I might need 4wd, I'll just lock them before I leave, then I just have to engage the transfer case if I do need it.

I am not aware of any speed limits.

The premium ones are all metal. The regular model has some plastic parts.

I agree 100%. Anything that fits like it belongs and you don't have to pay extra is rihjt up my alley. But when they don't work as good anymore and you are going to have to spend the money, I wholeheartedly believe that you might as well get something better. Especially if it's cheaper. Which I found them to be.
