First off, sorry if this has been answered before but after extensive search all I could find were a couple of old threads with expired pics/links.
After much deliberation I decided to go to the Warn hubs for my 2003 Excursion. I didn't know ahead of time that they were much shorter than the OE hubs which consequently leaves a gap at the center cap. Obvious question is how to solve this problem. I read a couple of suggestions that there are caps from other years that would fit but I cannot find exactly which caps would work. Also saw mention of modifying my original caps but couldn't find a clear method for doing this.
Any suggestions, valid links etc. would be appreciated!

Ok, I thought I had saved the instructions and accompanying pictures, but I can't find it anywhere, so after searching extensively, I found a thread where the mod was talked about.
Just finished the center cap mod, pretty straight forward process if you follow the photos and directions.
I found a set of 99 F150 caps from the directions on Ebay Sunday and they came today. I went to a couple of salvage yards on Saturday without any results so I bid them and won.
The Mile Marker Hubs sit in a little further than the Warns in the directions. I found that one side was slightly different than the other.
When you cut the tube that holds the nut clips make sure the clips stick out enough if the first one you put in doesn't trim it down a little more, it's easier to remove 1 as opposed to 4 (did it 2 times with all 4)<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype class=inlineimg id=_x0000_t75 title="Stick Out Tongue" stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" alt="" src="http://images.ford-trucks.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" o</v:shapetype>
I also used a deep socket to install the new clips in so they seated real nice into the bottom.
Unfortunately, the website documenting the mod, with great instructions and lots of pics, is now a dead link.

Strange....mine are as snug as a bug in a rug. Were there different depths on the center caps between the years?

This is what the hubs look like with the steel rims on my '02.
