Exclamation Won't start

I have a 64 f-100. A few weeks ago it broke down an wouldn't start. I took the starter out and the starter gear was in a million pieces. I replaced both the gear and the starter and now it still isn't working. I also got a new solenoid. I just charged the battery and the starter turned some but stopped and hasn't since. The solenoid clicks every time I turn the key and I believe I am getting plenty of charge, any advice or clue of what's going on? The flywheel is also worn some, but not enough to not work at all...

Just a little cornfuzed with "Won't start" Do you mean the starter does not turn, or the engine does not crank? Two big differences.

I have only got the new starter to turn once, and it died quickly. So the starter won't turn, but it may be because it can't crank the engine, I don't know

why do you say that, have you taken the spark plugs out and tried to turn over?
have you put it in a hi gear like 4th(if a manual) to bump engine over to see if its locked up or frozen?
before installing starter did you look to see if parts of old starter were on flywheel?
are the grounds making good contact with clean metal at battery and starter?
and say what engine, truck F? tranny?

Took out the spark plugs, no go. Have bumped engine and it is not frozen. Did not check the flywheel for shavings, there are some in the area but didn't notice any specifically on the flywheel. Ground has clean metal at battery. Maybe not at starter. 3.5 L straight 6 with a manual 4 speed with granny gear, f-100

What should I look for? There's plenty of metal on the teeth on the flywheel

I suspect that the drive gear on the starter is hung up in the ring gear on the flywheel. It doesn't take much galling to cause this to happen and a shattered drive gear certainly can cause it.
If the starter drive is hung up the starter will not be able to turn the motor over especially if the battery charge is down.
You will get a click from the solenoid though.
You can try tapping on the center of the back of the starter to see if that frees it up.

if you pulled the spark plugs, and if engine will turn free or if frozen
if not frozen you may need a new ring gear
if frozen you may have a lot of work
you have to isolate the problem get a shop manual, hippo something has them for $22 on the internet
go about this system by system and think how each works starter engages ring gear which spins crank so on
post a pic of flywheel someone will comment
