Hey everybody!
We recently replaced my 2001 and bought a 2011 F150 Super Crew 4x2 and really love the truck. But I have a question about something I seen one cold morning, about 24 degrees outside and the truck started up just fine. But in the message center I noticed something different.
It showed a four bladed fan, then next to it was a bar graph that looked like the signal strength meter on a cell phone, it started short then went taller, and I believe it showed something like the number 88 on each upper corner of the message display.
I may be calling it the wrong thing, but it's the display that show's the compass, temp, and stereo information.
Any ideas with this? It's driving me nuts, and I don't need the help.

Those are your climate-control settings. The bar graph is fan speed, the number is the temperature setting. If you play around with your HVAC controls, you will see them change.

I appreciate the input but I don't think so. We bought the truck in September when it was nice and warm here in North Carolina. I've only seen this in the message center one time. it was cold out, about 24 degrees. By the time the coolant was about to warm up and I turned the blower on and defrost setting it had disappeared.
It's an XLT, just A/C, no dual climate option. I even spent quite a bit of time this afternoon with Ford service centers (More than one dealership) nobody could tell me what it was. One even checked the VIN number to see if it had been serviced for a HVAC issue, nothing.
THANK YOU Tom!
That is exactly what my truck did, just one time. No Ford trained tech's that I've talked to could tell me what that is. They haven't even heard of it happening.
If you ever find out what that's about please let me know. And I'll do the same for you too.

I've been talking to one Ford service advisor that at least act's like she want's to help. I gave her the link to your video and she is looking to see what is going on.
I have had this happen as well. What I discovered is if you push both the power button and the windshield defrost at the same time, then press the windshield defrost immediately again, the head unit display will go nuts like you described. It almost seems to be like a debug or programming mode. Hit the defrost button again and it goes away, at least on my truck it does.
If it were my vehicle I'd ask if they mean ford service techs would reflash the bcm and see if that helps. To me it seems like a programming error. But that's just my $0.02.

Any update on your truck, ubereal2? If you need me to step in and assist, just send a PM my way with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and preferred servicing dealership.
FordService you are on!
I'll get outside and get you those numbers and PM you in a few minutes. I don't even know if the truck has ever been in for a service issue. I haven't had any problems, but that's why I only drive a Ford truck!

Well I was contacted for a Ford Regional Service advisor. And no help there either. Never heard of anything like it. Said if it happens again, to bring it in to the dealership...

Mine only did it once, and I traded it in a few months after that so we never found a root cause.
