Kind of tapered off on keeping my thread up to date. Grew a little tired of the Ford vs. Chevy bullies around here.
Doug
I am suprised to hear this, I am putting a full GM drive train in my 51 F1 and have had nothing but support here. Of course you have to expect some guys are die hard Ford and dont like the mixing of parts, but most are just happy to see an old Ford truck saved and put back on the road. Good bunch of members here

Of the last 10 entries a few are videos of the engine running. 1 was the first startup (it lit first crank) and 2. it running a bit longer when the coolant system was filled.
I'm in the process of hanging the front suspension.
Not too far off from a trip around the block!

Doug, Great looking truck and really nice work!
As far as the Ford vs Chevy talk here I have found it is best to simply ignore them. I really think that it is a very small percentage of members who are ugly about it. Not everybody here hates it. I have a 350 and a 700R4 in my 52 and have had a little of the haters, but mostly positive encouragement. I am sure that there are some that just completely ignore me and my truck though. And that is OK with me as I believe to each his own.

Yeah, I hear you. I'd be glad to be ignored by Ford-engine-only bigots. I love the Ford trucks (well also the vintage chevys.) The Chevy drivetrain just made economic sense -$5k for similar power / economy. Hard to argue with the $ difference.
I'm just glad it is good old American engineering
And to each their own. Really cool what some guys did with transplanting the MBZ diesel drivetrain. Real cool, too.
cheers,
I went thru the same thing when I first came here, but I grew a thick skin and ignored it. Now ask the bowtie haters how many would like to see me leave (note my post count and reputation). Don't dwell on just the engine brand and concentrate on the parts of your build that are "brandless" and appeals to/helps all.
