Thanks Ben, I completely agree. Where I come from its all about riding, and if you aren't riding you aren't $#!% period. Gone are the days of building rods just to put them in the garage. Why spend tens of thousands of dollars making it so fast its not drivable and incapable of passing a gas station. With my last setup I got 26 mpgs, and with this new setup my mpgs will be even higher. 10 years ago When I built my rod gas prices weren't that bad, and I would never hear the end of the engine choice I had. Until gas prices went up then they started to pay attention. Over the years more and more people automatically understood what I was getting at. Which is a fast truck with great gas mileage by any means necessary.
Don't know why it matters what's in our trucks, we all have reasons for doing what we do. If your truck happens to come with a sbc when you got it then so be it . It's a fact that building the equivalent motor from both camps, the sbc will always be cheaper to build. And yes there are way more parts available at any given time for the Chevy especially on the used side of things. People today seem to be on more of a budget, and if that means they can get more for their money with the Chevy then great. They are doing what they. An afford and what makes them happy. I have great luck and not so great luck with both sides, with my 56, I would love the coyote motor, but right now budget won't allow it. I got a killer deal on a early 90's roller 5.0 and I know how to build it to run great and still get at least decent mileage. Lexcoe put a Lexus in his, and will be one sweet ride when it's finished but it doesn't make it any less of a truck than the guy with the ford combo . I can appreciate the engineering it took to accomplish the swap. Anyway, I will get off the soapbox, again, we all chose to build in one way or another some of the best looking trucks built to date and I applaud all of the work that's gone into each and every project here, no matter what makes it move. If it moves you the owner, then that's all that matters..
I'm *really* puzzled why folks get their panties in a bunch when it comes to others' projects and choices. Yeah, I get it Ford forum, still seems pretty lame when folks can't see the big picture or appreciate the effort in any type of drivetrain swap be it chevy bow tie, detroit or cummins or Mercedes diesel or blue oval.
To each their own! Cant we all just get along
Honestly, I'm a purist when it comes to the hearts in vehicles. Just the thought of putting a ch@vy motor in a beautiful ford trucks sickens me. You get what you pay for. Id rather spend the money and get a much better and more dependable Ford motor than have a lifetime of worrying if the chevy motor will start every day.

LOL... I remember my sister's '66 mustang leaving her stranded many time (starter blues), dad's '65 t-bird had problems with his battery draining all the time... And I had a 12 volt battery in my '49 f-1 bed toolbox to jump my truck. I've have had battery problems with my chevy's. But one of my friend is a diehard ford and he has had nothing but problems with Chevy's... I myself love the old ford and like the new chevy!

I dont really care for anything new. Especially newer chevys. Every one that I have ridden in felt cheap.
It is funny reading all the bashing of the other brand here. I would rather see a Chevy or Dodge before any of the Japanese brands. I have always been a Ford man but I see nothing wrong with any of the AMERICAN made brands. And as far as one being more reliable than another, I would say it is far more a problem of a lack of regular maintenance than branding.
As far as the new Chevys feeling cheap, that just might be because they are full of Chinese parts now...
I have owned both bow ties and blue ovals and I have had good and bad luck with both . I'm just here to say it doesn't matter what goes in it as long as your happy with it. If others are so stuck on one brand that they are looking past the ingenuity it took to accomplish whatever swap it happens to be , then they are t truly appreciating what the hot rodding spirit is all about.
Kind of tapered off on keeping my thread up to date. Grew a little tired of the Ford vs. Chevy bullies around here.
Of the last 10 entries a few are videos of the engine running. 1 was the first startup (it lit first crank) and 2. it running a bit longer when the coolant system was filled.
I'm in the process of hanging the front suspension.
