3 speed manual oil fill hole
is this the hole on the passenger side half way up the case? I ask because my tail-shaft seal was leaking for a while...I just changed and removed that plug to fill with gear oil and oil was still running out, truck was level as well. any ideas?

Should be. Proper level is at the bottom of the fill hole. If it runs out it is too full.

I wonder how/if PO overfilled, the level had to drop from the tail shaft seal leaking-wasn't bad leak, but...hmm.
I guess I will just drain and refill to be on the safe side. Maybe over fill was cause of leak in first place?

Be careful what gear oil you use, the new GL5 rated eats brass synchros. Try to find GL4..

I don't remember exactly 2 or 2 1/2 pints, I just fill to the bottom of the hole.
