I have a 2008 f250 6.4 and it has a high idle while driving
its around 800 rpm on the trucks tachometer and it has a slight klunk while shifting between gears because of the idle
No codes
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Not sure what you mean by 'high idle'--my '09 idles at 750-800. Sometimes higher when I idle it for a long time.
Nor how you get an idle while driving...do you mean when you stop?
Joe
It's just slightly too high in park the truck never ran that high before and then while driving if you come to a stop you really have push the brake pedal because it wants to roll ahead
No I can hear its running just slightly too fast than before
Ill check about the converter though because my tuner should show it
And when you come to a full stop and sitting there it would never make any boost now its always at 1lb of boost
Mine was doing the slightly higher idling too....Could not figure it out.
It was doing this for a couple of weeks and then the alternator/battery light came on and the alternator tested bad so I replaced it.
After replacing the alternator, the idle went back to normal and has been fine ever since.
I figured the truck computer was elevating the idle speed to help keep the proper voltage as the alternator was giving out.
Works for me and all is well with idle speed after replacing that alternator.
Lmfao just replaced the alternator yesterday because it took a **** and it solved the problem
That's pretty wild that the truck does that for itself tho

Ha Ha....Cool
Glad you solved the problem.
I went in thru fender well to access the alternator. Sucks that they stuck it down in so low. Was a pain getting to the belt tensioner but it got done. I stuck in a rebuilt alternator instead of a new one and now wish I would have spent the money on a new one. Even though the rebuilt alt has a lifetime warranty and gets replaced when it fails.....I know it will probably last a year or so before it craps out. The rebuilt ones have done that to me before on other vehicles.....Oh Well
Ya I went thru the fender as well but I pulled the battery box and air filter assembly which made it a lot nicer to access everything
I went brand new with lifetime warranty
It was way cheaper than dealer and the only one around town
It's must be a hot commodity right now I guess

I have the same issue. Also when I throw it in reverse (at a complete stop) the gears bang pretty hard and I worry about something breaking. How do you adjust the idle?
