mystrey dead battery
my friend has a 81 f250 2wdr with mild 400 and after you let it sit for like 2 hours the battery is dead it has a new alternator, voltage regulator, battery, starter ect.... we went thru all the wires under the hood and we cant find anything wrong. any Ideas??

Using a digital ammeter, place one lead on the battery post, and the other lead on the terminal. Carefully remove the terminal from the batery post, with both leads still connected, and set it on top of the battery so it can't make contact with the post. The reading on the meter should be less than .3 amps. If it's more, start pulling fuses. Check the meter after you pull a fuse, to see if the reading changed. If it goes down, you have found the problem circuit.

Although what was recommended would probably work an even easier way to do would be to take a volt meter,and turn everything off....don't forget to close the doors too. Test each circuit in the fuse box until you find one drawing excessive voltage. It sounds like something is shorting to ground, and causing this hefty draw. Good luck!
