hey guys, i'm not sure if this has been beaten to death or not but i was wondering what everyone's opinion on the PHP ECM rollback and tunes were? it seems like their FICM tuning is talked about a lot, but not much about the ecm side of things. i did get my ficm just recently repaired by Ed and had the Atlas 40 tune installed at the same time and i am more than happy with the service work and performance out of the truck now. i'm wondering now if i would benefit from getting the ecm looked at and if there was anyway for me to tell what strategy i am running now with the autoenguinuity? i'm running completely stock so im not looking for an all out performance tune and i don't want to limit the truck in any way since i won't have to ability to change tunes on the fly...so would i be better off staying stock or could i get away with throwing the 25hp or 40hp heavy tune on top of the atlas 40 tune? one last question i have is when they say egr delete i assume they mean turning off the egr electronically just like the guys with the sct tuners do and i can leave the egr plugged in or weld it shut to stop all of that hot exhaust gases from entering my engine without throwing any codes or turning my cooling fan off (i would of coarse delete the cooler itself also if and when i eventually have the intake off). sorry for all of the questions and thanks in advance!!
Use the SCT and one of the canned tunes, or acquire a custom tune from various sources to fine tune what you want, whether near stock, towing or performance.
As for EGR the SCT has options to turn off the EGR and most tune writers turn it off as well unless specified.
With it electrically turned off exhaust gases are going into the cooler and there is still potential for it to burst.
Most do the Stealth delete or full delete and use the SCT to make sure the CEL doesn't set.
I had Bill hard tune my PCM with a tow tune. Sets me up for the whole SCT tuning dance. All I got to do is go back to "stock" and my tow tune is loaded.
First off if your truck has ever been to Ford using the VIN they should be able to tell you what ECM firmware you have. The Atlas 40 is a great tune. I am not aware of anyone who is unhappy with it.
I have several friend that utilize PHP ECM tunes with the FICM tunes and they are happy. Ultimately the best tunes to get are custum tunes. Cann tunes get you in the ball park.
IMHO the SCT with custom and PHP atlas 40 is the best combo. Just be careful being you are stock.
My advice prior to any tunes is to get a scangauge II to monitor vitals. It is better to know the health of your vehicle prior to making changes, repairs are costly parts alone.

I doubt seriously that any dealer can tell him what flash is in his truck UNLESS the tech documented it specifically. That being said, many devices can read the strategy.
AFA the strategy rollback specifically:
It's a known fact that Ford "detuned" many trucks with every flash. The earlier flashes are better base tunes for tuning higher HP trucks. They are also better mileage tunes.
yeah it was close to a 3 week turn around time because of shipping times plus this was over the rememberance day/veterans day long weekend. well worth the wait tho, highly recommend it!
My Gryphon's sitting at the border.
Looking very forward to it's arrival.
Reviews are very good on this site about it, Ability to order/tune the ECM in the future if I want and Monitor vitals you can't go wrong with it. Plus the 4 FICM tunes that come loaded on it.
PHP Tuner for the FICM and SCT for the ECM/TCM seems to be a very well tested/tried route the majority has taken here and other sites for whatever gain they need for their trucks. Custom tuning/High HP/Towing/Heavy Towing ect ect
As for the tunes on a stock (non-studded 6.0) i'd do alot of reading if you want to add more power to it and maintain it's reliability.
Now I want Atlas 40...PITA customs takes forever to get stuff up here from south of the boarder. But I still want it.LOL
Ordered my Gryphon on 2nd at noon. Shipped 2 hours later (tracking no emailed) International shipping ready by 3rd 5PM. Just cleared customs Yesterday 6th at noon. PITA it is
Being in Canada, Brickie, the Gryphon is the better route to take. Also if you want to tune further, you call, set up an appt with Bill, and they take over via the internet to update/rollback/tune ECM if you want that in the future. All done through the Gryphon tuner
