I have a 99 exp with the electronic AC controls......right now it is blowing hot air; however, the rear AC blows cold.
This has happened twice before. The first time I took it into the dealer and they were unable to diagnose the problem.....go figure, but they were, however, able to give me a bill for $70.
The second time it corrected itself.....it just stopped blowing hot, and started blowing cold again.
This time it is for good.....worst of all I live in south Florida.
I am wondering if it is the thermometer that is failing?
If anyone has experienced a situation like this please help!::
Have you tried just turning it on using the fan speed controls and the max A/C button instead of the automatic setting. If it doesn't work even if you try hitting the max A/C button then it is probably a problem with the A/C controller and not the thermostatic sensor. If it work when you hit the max A/C button then you know that you have found your problem. Hope this helps.
I have tried all you have suggested........still not working .
Any more suggestions? And I am having a hard time understanding your logic; how do you know it is not the thermostat and why do you think it is the controls? Everything else works fine by the controls(except the cold air).
This is a common problem with the electronic controls. You should check the connectors to the unit, they become loose and fail, meaning the harness that gets attached to the electronic control unit. Worst case scenario, replace the Electronic A/C control unit (e-bay), that should take care of that.
that happened to me on an older model and the problem was tht it was February, 20 degrees and the heat will work for like 5 minutes and then it will start blowing cold air, it sucked!
If you pay attention, you shold hear the louvers switching positions by itself (cold to hot or vice-versa) by the evaporator area...
This doesn't happend to mechanical instrument panels since they are manual levels...
