I have for some time had a problem with the A/C control blowing hot air however, when switched to Max blow cold air. Recently the Max has started not blowing cold air but cool air. This had happened a time earlier and I was told it was a fuse which for awhile fixed the problem with the A/C dial so that it produced cold air however, then stopped again. Any help before taking this to a shop would be great... any suggestions . . . .
thanks
chad
Sounds like you temp control door is not switching like it should I ran into this on my 98 explorer the door is controlled by an electric motor located behind the glove box and is hel down by 3 torx head screws. Remove the torx screws and remove the motor then ge a small mirror and look down into the recess that the motor fits in and I will bet the plastic is cracked and not letting it switch from hot to cold.
Yes you have to remove the dash and heater box and in my case they didn't sell just the door I had to replace the whole heater box assembly for 289.00 plus 8 hours worth of work.
