Farewell to Y'all
Well, the time has come.........I traded my 6.2L in a couple weeks ago, on a new truck. A couple reasons.
Preface by saying that I absolutely LOVED my '11 CCSB Lariat 4WD 6.2 with 3.73.......
2 reasons that we traded it in..............we bought a bigger camper this fall, 9600# dry, somewhere around 12,000# loaded, which was really a lousy towing experience with the 6.2/3.73 , even with a 5-Star Tune.........it could be done, but it was at the upper limit of what I would want to tow with a small-block gas motor, being that I *hate* listening to it wind out to 5,000 rpms on all the hills, etc. That was my only gripe, that the 6.2L is not a torque-monster down at low rpms. I don't tow very often, though, and could have dealt with the towing power if it hadn't been for reason #2, because otherwise, the 6.2L was a fine motor.
We've got baby #3 coming in March, and it wasn't going to work with 3 car seats across in the cab.........Ford didn't put LATCH tethers in the seats (at least in my 11, maybe the new ones do) so my outboard kids were buckled in with a (ratcheted) shoulder belt, which was fine, but the center belt doesn't ratchet (duh!) which makes securing a carseat in that center position a daunting task, AND the cab was too narrow to fit a 3rd carseat in (although I could have looked for super-narrow carseats all the way across and perhaps got something to fit). Combined with #1, it made sense to shop for something different.
Not much out there that'll pull 12,000 lbs and has a bigger cab than a Super Duty (certainly not a GM), so we ended up with a 2013 Ram 3500 MegaCab DRW Laramie with the Cummins.......smoking hot end of year pricing (about $15k off sticker) and the trade in on my 6.2 was excellent.
I'm not a big Dodge/Ram fan.......BUUUUUT, the new Rams are a darn nice truck. It rides fantastic, the UConnect touchscreen interface is really slick, the 6.7 with DEF is a solid motor......and the cab is HUGE. Extra 3-4" of width and the 3rd carseat fits easy, LATCH in all 3 rear positions, and I'm sure it'll put the trailer nicely.
It's been fun......this was my second Super Duty, both treated me well. Thanks to all for your help and advice over the years, I stripped off some stuff from my truck before I traded it in (20" factory wheels, 5-Star / SCT tuner, etc) that I'll toss up here in the classifieds soon.
Cheers!

Having owned several trucks and having many friends with all types of forein and demestic trucks I can honestly say the new rams are lowest quality I've seen. My father in law got a 2013 2500 hemi crew bad short bed and the truck is pure garbage. The materials are cheap, the bumpers sound like they are hollow if you knock on them, the engine bay insulation looks like a 3 year old installed it and the a/c lines are run right over the serpentine belt so there is a constant squeel from water dripping on it. Not to mention it makes no low end torque. My baby 300 horse pulls his 7000k camper way better then that truck with 85 more ponies.I have 35's installed now so the previous statement no longer applies. LOL. He too got the truck for a great price. It was less then my regular cab optioned up XL.
I could go on and on about that truck. I wish you the best of luck with your truck. I'm sure it will fit your needs just fine but in my case anyways I don't see this new truck holding up to well. With less then 5k miles the suspension is sagging a little and interior panels have loosened up and rattle a lot. Also the 4x4 shifter in the center console moves so much under normal driving that it looks like its going to fall out and 4 wheel drive wines like crazy. Enough of my 0230 ram rant lol.
Good luck with your truck and please keep us up to date on how she treats you. Its always nice to see reviews on other trucks, good or bad
