The only ones I can find listed at autozone that are the *correct* type, are MrGasket brand "race only", #4364 180F and #4365 195F. Otherwise, they show the wrong type......
It shows the 1139 to be the one for engine letter G in the vin which is what I have. On both the site you linked to and O'reilly. So I guess I'll try it.

Don't do it.
At least don't complain when you have overheating problems in summer because the bypass is wide open.
While you were looking, I was trying to think of a core design where that would be true and didn't come up with anything.
Good info. Thanks. Reped you. Jim
The only ones that would matter are the ones that use different size inlet/outlet fittings. Don't think the flow direction matters, but the hose sizes do....... Hard to get a smaller hose on a larger fitting, or get a larger hose to seal on a smaller one.....
I saw those Mr.Gasket on Auto Zone too. Then I looked at O'Reilly to see
what they have and they have the Motorcraft RT 1139.
Not easy to find the *correct* t-stat for the 351M/400. Sure, the others will work fine in cooler weather, but not so well in hotter weather....... Been there, done that. 351M/400 tends to have overheating issues in hot weather, most often caused by the wrong style t-stat.
Have a look at that Thread I linked with the debate about Robert Shaw 333 series thermostats and see how many people ruined the rear two cylinders because the bypass was left open.
I've read the other threads that was linked and now I'm looking at
the Stant and the Shaw brands. Those 2 seem to be the way to go unless
a person can get lucky and find a NOS (RT139?) at a Ford dealer?
