6.6 is a 400.
You have a Cleavland style engine.
Be sure to get the right thermostat with the bypass 'hat'.

It really does not matter which hose is connected where.

Let me see if I can dig up the thread.
Hope you can find the thread. I'm interested in why that's true.

I HATE to post misinformation but always glad to have a misconception corrected.

There are 8 bolts on the valve covers. I took the radiator cap off and
started it cold and the coolant was flowing.

Yeah, flow direction doesn't really matter on this style heater core. It is divided down the middle, coolant enters one side, flows down to the bottom, across the bottom to the other side, and back up to the other connection.

Some heater cores do have a specific inlet/outlet, this one does not.

Yup.
You're hosed.
Get the correct style 192* thermostat and you'll be all set

The reason I first called it a 351W is because the previous owner
called it that. I kept wondering about that but haven't took the
time to look it up till now. I've only had the PU a couple of weeks
and with the holiday haven't had the time.
It's been about 15-20 years since I've "played around" with one of these
so many thanks for all your help!

Hey, I'm just glad you figured it out.

Now, with the proper thermostat you can be toasty in your new truck!

Is the Motorcraft PN 139 or 1139?
I looked on O'Reilly's site the part no. listed was RT-1139.
Just want to make sure it is the right one. THANX!

While you were looking, I was trying to think of a core design where that would be true and didn't come up with anything.

Good info. Thanks. Reped you. Jim

The 1139 is a Windsor style thermostat.

Here, look at the compatibility tab.

Like I said, just because it fits doesn't mean it's right.

Google search brings me to a page of Gary's epic thread where he says O'Reilly's can't get the proper thermostat.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12757826

The Stant cap is listed at Advance.
Aren't they the same company as O'Reilly's?

ETA; Here is a thread discussing the problem.
