Do you know something we don't.
You go ahead and put a non-selective locker in your front D50 on a superduty and see how long it lasts.
I've seriously lost count of how many I've seen broken.
Not to say that if you run in sand you're going to blow up your case, but....mud, dirt/rocks....you write the check.
With an ARB, you can lock when you NEED to or leave off and still have 3 wheel (or 2 wheel) drive (depending on your rear diff situation)
I am glad you took my comments for what they were. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the drawbacks of the front locker and it seems you are.
ill have my powertrax locker in front by the end of the week, ill tell ya'll how it works on hard dirt, loose gravel and sand dunes.. as ill be testing it on all three by the end of the weekend.. im not to worried about all the above described problems as ive only got about 15 miles of use on my front diff and 35K miles on the truck.. ie.. i only use 4x4 when its about to go into the sand... or in any other surface i wait till the Auburn cant get me any further..than i pull myself out with the 4x4... only hunting, fishing, and camping and dunes... get me to engauge those hubs... i dont 4x4 for sport... well i do have great times hunting and fishing getting to places no man has gone before..he he.. my point is im not out there bashing this thing.. i use my 4x4 as an emergency out.. ive never needed it on any surface but sand since i installed the Auburn... i am concerned about snow.. as niether the Auburn or the Powetrax up front are going to be friendly on ice..(no Lateral traction).. but i wont use the 4x4 then either.. it actually degrades steering and braking control even with an open diff...... i can see it now though... ill be on a SLOPE in snow and my auburn rear end will only slide down the slope.. towards a ditch or cliff? and if i engauge the front locker it will slip down the slop also.. id be screwed... then again lock one hub? thatll do it!

I just talked to my supplier he said he made a booboo when he said he could get a detroit to fit in the front of my truck. Oh well so much for that. I'm back to the lockright. As soon as I get my tools for the ball joints....

good luck turning. (use the plow to turn)
As you'll be under power when you plow, your truck will have the uncanny desire to go straight.
Let us know how it works out.
Iv'e been plowing for 5 years with lockers in both ends. In no way is it objectionable. In fact I never get stuck and I can plow where no one else can, Its totally awsome. As far as steering control etc. I don't use 4wd over 20 mph and steering while plowing is no different with lockers. I live in Vt up near the canadian border. My driveway is the steepest driveway in town.
Just to haul a load up it in the summer requires a front locker.. I think I know exactly what i'm doing..Thanks for the concern.

You got it.
I'm not plow expert. (Calfornia...snow? uh...)
