Im going to attempt to rethread a bolt. I got a thread restorer kit.
the bolt I need to rethread is the left side of the thermostat housing.
Ive never had to do this before, seems simple, anyone got any advice for me?
if this doesnt work what else can I do?
I was thinking I may have to cut the the bolt off, drill it, thread the new hole and use a bolt to tighten it down, I hope I dont have to do all that. PIA!
If it is indeed a stud, it'd be easier to clamp a pair of channel locks on the stud and back the whole thing out. Soak with penetrating oil for a few hours and wiggle it back and forth to free it up.

Thanks man, this makes more sense if I cant fix the threads properly.
I find gentle heat with a propane torch and penetrating oil ,alternating after cooling , works good to free frozen fasteners . Devino's sudgestion of vice grips helps sometimes !
