80's 2.3 turbo diesel t belt change

Hey guys, not sure where this post is best put but..
I believe it's an '85 2x4 ranger 4spd with the Mitsubishi 2.3 turbo. I can have for couple hundred bucks (said two new batteries for his 6.2 jimmy an he'd let me have it)
Truck runs well but the catch is it needs the timing belt changed. He bought one an it's free with truck.

Does anyone have experience doing the t-belt in this motor? Any tips or links to a guide would greatly be appreciated !

Thanks in advance folks

Make absolutely sure it's right before you start the engine. There is no forgiveness on that one, turn it over three or four times by hand first before you even think of starting it. Replace any idler or tensioner pulleys at the same time, and the water pump if the timing belt runs it. It would be a good time to do the crank and cam seals as well.
That or just send it over to me. I can give a little TD pickup a good home-

Very good ideas thanks for the heads up. If you've done the job is it something anyone is capable of doing?

I've never done the Mitsu engines, but I have done an Isuzu and VWs, so my advice is more general in nature.
Make sure everything is lined up before you take it apart, and it'll go back together easier with less chance of damage.

Well I pulled the upper timing belt shroud off. It really (belt) looks in great shape. Had sat for near a year..and few extended werls of the starter and it fired up. Runs well. Noticed it does seem To be oily pass. Side of motor and more rear then front. Also it does look like the front cam seal is/was leaking. I noticed there's a say longer timing belt.. But looks like there is a lower belt between it an the motor face.. What does this lower smaller/inner belt drive ?
