the oil pan from my dusted texas engine is pristine, while my drop in with great compression isn't...well completely great. (mid atlantic states..e series donor)
can the oil pan from my texas dusted be removed without damaging the lip/sealing surface?
i have heard that it is almost impossible to do this without damaging the pan.
get a quality putty knife and tap it through the silicone rubber to break the bond, the blade will need to be thicker than your typical off the shelf unit.
I'm pretty sure you have to remove the motor to remove the pan and turn it upside down to put on new RTV if you get any oil on the RTV it will not work and will have continuous leaks.
I am sanding mine down with sand paper and being super cautious and then putting fiber glass over the bottom the best I can. Heard and read It works pretty good.
