So I'm on the board of commissioners for my local rural fire department and we have this 1966 F-600 tanker truck that we are taking out of service and replacing with a newer truck. We purchased the truck brand new and it's been in service ever since and always lived in the heated fire station. It has 5388 original miles and most of them were logged traveling to and from parades the last few summers as it usually brings home the trophy for oldest truck still in service. We need to sell the truck and are looking for an idea of what it's value may be. We are in upstate NY, just north of Binghamton for reference. If anyone could chime in here with your honest thoughts of a fair price on this truck please do, it will be greatly appreciated. If this is breaking the forum rules let me know and I will move it to the classifieds with a best offer price and see where that gets me. It really is a nice truck, I actually was the last one to drive it on a call, about 3 summers ago I hauled a few loads of water to a barn fire with it.
Wow that is really a clean old truck, You would have a lot better luck selling it if it were out here in the western states. There are lots of small volunteer FD's and also many of the big farms and ranches keep fire trucks on hand for fighting wild land fires.
As for worth.....I'm sure it's worth 5k at least. Just depends on who wants it. Have you tried listing it on Ebay?

Why does fire truck appear to be in a private driveway? You already bought it and its at your home?
From what I can tell I would give a minimum of 5k for truck depending on a few things . . . Thats if it still belongs to the fire department. If you or someone already purchased truck I would not be interested.
The truck is still owned by the fire department, we have a new truck that took its place in the station and the day I took pictures of it, it was parked at the fire chief's house. That's the reason it looks like it is at an individuals house. We still have it insured so it can be road tested if someone had such a desire.

Ok, Thanks for info.
I would be happy to have that truck for total investment around 5k. ;maybe a touch more Problem is the shipping to get it to phx.
Be interesting to see how the auction goes.
Looks like a very nice truck!
I'll be watching this until it sells hopefully it will go to someone that will take care of it and leave it how it is. Are we allowed to know what the reserve is?
I can't say what the reserve is but I will say that Boss9F100's 5k offer won't buy it. Remember, it's being sold by the fire department that bought it new and is being sold by committee so a group of us had to agree what we'd let it go for. If it gets there on Ebay great, if not, we'll meet again and discuss our options. I don't think it's the best time of year to be selling it, we may hang onto it until spring if we have to. Personally, I think it would bring more with the tank body off and a nice wooden stake rack but that's just my opinion.

The 5k was my first thought without further info or pics. I requested better photo's of different angles and more overall of truck. I made request for more info and pics to your phone, email and in a PM with no response. NY is a long way away from AZ so its nice to have basic info one asks for. I was willing to fly to NY to inspect truck but other basic info was needed first.
