From what I have been reading in here and other resourced a 1995 f150 with a 351w is going to be a full roller engine but what I have not been able to find out is any info n rocker stud size. Are they the same as the 5.0 at 5/16 or are they a 3/8? Tried looking on JEGS and summit but they don't show any compatibility for a truck
Ok. I knew they ran the same head but there were a few nit picky differences. Was looking at a set of 1.7 roller rockers that were a 3/8 stud mount and trying to figure out if they would fit or not
Been looking around for a good deal on some rockers, most likely used since I'm on a budget, and stud mounts seem to be much cheaper than the pedestal mount. They can usually be had for about half the price or less. Can you convert the heads over? Is it much trouble? Are there any drawbacks? I have access to a machine shop at work and all the help and advice I could ever want so I could have parts made for not very much, just cost of materials. I may even be able to get it free if it is all pieces to small for us to use at work for anything.
To convert to studs the heads have to removed from the motor and the pedestals machined down and the holes bored and tapped for the larger diameter studs, and then when the motor is reassembled you have to use hardened pushrods and guideplates along with those studs and roller rockers and now you have to know how to properly setup these rockers.. it's not just a simple bolt down any more.
There is no way it is cheaper to do all this work than it is to just buy pedestal mount rockers.
Ok. I didn't realize I needed so many parts to do the swap or it was a lot more complicated than pedestals. I was just wondering as I am changing heads to GT40Ps soon and was going to do all the work to them before I changed them over
