Steele Rubber Products ??

Anyone here purchased from them?

Getting to the point of ordering all of the new rubber I'll need for our 64 F100 Styleside.

One point in their favor is when I called them they have a complete listing of 64 specific parts they offer, which they emailed and also took the time to print and regular mail to me.

They are also the only ones I have found that offer repo hood bumpers ( oval ) for a 64, rather than the common round 53-56 style.

Downside(?) is that their prices are 2 - 2 1/2 times higher on some of the same products I see offered by DC ... LMC ... blah blah blah

DC ... LMC .. C&G Ford .. etc. all seem to use the same online catalog hosting program that makes it a huge PITA to search for a specific part.

I have no problem spending $70 for a windshield gasket as opposed to $40ish from the bigger companies that spend a ton on advertising.

SO ... the question is ... is their product that higher of quality?

Thanks!

i bought their door seals, seemed pretty good to me. At least as far as quality in appearance looked, but I havent had them on the truck but for a month. Install was pretty easy as far as their end was concerned. I had a hard time just cause it was my first time.

Id buy more stuff from them.

Heard lmc seals suck.

I have never purchased from Steele so it would be interested if other members have and get their opinion? Have purchased window seals, gaskets, and weatherstrip from Dennis Carpenter and very pleased with the quality, not sure who their supplier is. May want to check and compare prices and if decide to consider wait for input from other members.

Carpenter makes most of his own rubber. Having said that I did another car (55 Chevy) out of the Steele catalog and was pleased with it.

Just for info purposes, I did purchase weatherstrip kit for the 65, can't recall supplier, but decided to go the cheaper kit that covered a number of year models, suspect a 'generic' type, and ended up tossing it; same with a set of radiator support bushings which I ended up tossing; harken back to the ole phrase you get what you pay for.

I got all the rubber and anti rattle kits for my 64 from Dennis Carpenter and have been very pleased. The exception was the oval hood bumpers which came from LMC.

LMC's rubber products tend to be junk. I have never read anything bad about Steele and will be using them when the time comes.
