7.3idi help

I'm changing the engine in a friends truck 1989 f250 7.3 idi he bought a parts truck to take the engine out of .with that said he never heard it run I removed the breather there's water in the intake. Is there anyway to inspect the cylinders for damage .like on a gas engine through the spark plug hole

not that i know of but somebody else may chime in and correct me. I would however take the glow plugs out and crank the engine over in case there is water in the cylinders.

Agree with FD17, you need to make sure there is not water in the cylinders before cranking so you don't hydrolock it. Check the air filter lid on top - is the little rubber seal there? If not, you may have rainwater in the intake.
