Reading another thread regarding the redline mod, I attempted to to this and my truck ran like crud on a cold start. It acted as though it didn't want to go into fast idle.
I commented on this and another member stated something wasn't right, by disconnecting and plugging the red tube should have no effect on low boost and cold start.
I don't have access to a scanner at the moment, but what would contribute to my truck not running right on a cold start by doing this mod? It's simply disconnecting and plugging the red tube.....correct?
I plugged it back up and truck runs fine. I guess I'll leave it this way until I can figure out if I have an underlying problem.
I agree, it should not affect cold start. I have my red line pulled from the wastegate actuator and plugged onto an intercooler tube boot clamp. I put a rubber cap on the wastegate nipple as Chris said.
Is the red line in good shape/no rubbed through sections that might open when the line is moved from it's normal spot on the actuator? Just spitballing...
Maybe that is where my problem is. I wondered about that, and I searched for the answer but I didn't notice where anyone addressed it.
ya it just made sense to me to do it that way weather it was needed or not . i wanted to keep the dirt out. any of the auto box store's will have a pack of 5 or so pretty cheap. give it another shot.
After plugging the actuator the truck starts and idles fine with cold start. While under there I also found a couple of more loose hose clamps on the pipes. The ones that were loose were the worm clamps. Why the dealer put those types of clamps on instead of the others I have to wonder.
I hand tightened those as I was afraid they would break if too much pressure was applied.
