Ok guys here's the problem. I am in desperate need of a drivers door and hinges. My door was almost ripped off the truck (dont ask how), and now my hinges are a U shape and the door is bowed out funny. It will not close all the way...the only way to close it is to jump and kick it in just the right spot. Kinda annoying. So I need a door and hinges. Up here in southern Wisconsin, used doors that are close by (think 100 miles max) are VERY few and far between. When found they are either too rusty or $100+ without hinges, hardware, or glass. Ive done some searching online for the cheapest repro doors but they're all pretty costly. I also dot want this cheap tin ones that lmc has. Ive looked all over for a boneyard and can't find any with this era trucks in them. Where do you guys get used doors from? Anyone know of a salvage yard around southern or middle Wisconsin/ northern illinois that has part for these rigs? I'm stumped. I called every place in the phone book that advertised themself as a boneyard but no one had anything...
That part of the country is tough on things! If you were around here you would just follow me to the shop and there is one in there, 2 if you count both sides.. But thats no help is it..
I'm guessing this was a fight or a deranged ex-girlfriend. How close was I?
Umm...the first option was pretty close actually. Had the door open and was backing up at a gas station...nailed a pile of salt bags and folded the door back. Never knew salt bags could fight like that...
Sorry I haven't been able to find that guy's number yet.
Check this place out though, it's right near Waukegan. They have a 78 Bronco there that had doors when I was there. They list a 78 F250, but that one got rolled or something, the entire top of the cab was sheared off. I would give them a call and ask if they still have the driver side door on the bronco and see how much they want. They seem decent on price for body parts for older vehicles, they only wanted $50 for a tailgate off that rolled 78.
I'm in burlington wi. About 20 minutes out of lake Geneva.
Sorry to hi-jack your thread with unrelated information (again) but I've got family in Lake Geneva and spent a lot of time there while growing up; that sure is a nice area. Small world. I've got a lot of family from Beloit too but that's the opposite direction from you I guess.

Wow small world indeed! Yeah I spend a ton of time in lake Geneva in the summer time. Something about driving around by the lake front in one of these trucks is simply awesome.
