I have a 03 350 with the 6.0. 125K
I've been noticing it running a bit different lately.
For the last week or so we've had colder weather and I've started the truck up a few times over the cold spell. After the glow plug light turns off I've turned the key and it doesn't want to start unless I feather the fuel pedal. But on the warmer mornings it starts up fine.
Secondly, today after the truck was warmed up and running at normal temps I had stop at a stop light. Upon making my turn and accelerating I looked in the mirror and noticed blue/white smoke. Went away 20 seconds later an haven't had it since.
So when I got home I jumped on the forum to do some searching. Is it safe to say at this point my EGR Valve may need a good cleaning and look for the possibility of the EGR Cooler beginning to go bad?
What reading did you get from FICM main? with the gauge cansef is what our trucks obd port enter info for the gauge, also there's FICM lp ( logic power) and FICM vp ( vehicle power ) to get Info values aswell.
Your right. Scanner will only pull codes,I/M monitors,Mil Status. Pretty much useless. I guess I can't do anything until I get the correct tool. I'll look into the ones you've listed.
Would the SCT tuner work?
Sorry had to put my feed bag on ( dinner) lol sct live wire I belive so , I just have the Scan Gauge from Auto zone, dash boss and the others I'm not familiar with hopefully Josh or the guys will chime in to help you on the gauge choise, Did the scanner pull a code? you can always have Auto Zone check for codes then write them down
These are the Values you want to Ideal see at koeo, low, high
FICM ( main)-koeo-47 lo-47.5 high-47.5/48
FICM (lp)-koeo12.0 lo-13.5 hi-13.5
FICM (vp)-koeo-12.0 lo-14.0 hi-14.0
just because the main is showing 47/48 remember that vp and lp maybe showing less.
If you pull the EGR valve clean up the MAP to intake follow the hose down to the Intake there's a nipple threaded into the intake that gets clogged also the IAT2 senser witch is behind the fuel bowl chances are that's caked too. Try not to get CARB cleaner into the electrical of the sensers and valve I use a small plumbers flux brush too.
God this thread said smoke I thought you all meant something else
Benny you know that stuff is legal up here in Washington?
To the OP if you have the 06 I see in your about me. You can use one of
the older Snap-On Red Bricks aka The MT-2500
with the last update that they made for it and a CAN-1B adapter. That is what
I used to use. It worked for most things.
