Benny you know that stuff is legal up here in Washington?
To the OP if you have the 06 I see in your about me. You can use one of
the older Snap-On Red Bricks aka The MT-2500
with the last update that they made for it and a CAN-1B adapter. That is what
I used to use. It worked for most things.
Sean
So what do they say about that and a Jobs up there??
It's going to be something to watch. The State Patrol
had to change a few things.
Jobs like the ones I would work have federal oversight and it's still
a federal crime. So love there. Lets just say it's going to be an interesting
next few years. Then there will be the question or if you were in Washington
and partook of some then went into a state that still found it to be an offense.
How would that be dealt with in you had an accident and still had some trace levels.
Thanks guys for the replies. Gives me some things this morning to take apart, clean.
My Actron scanner did not pull any codes, I'm looking into the Scan gauge which will be a good investment. Trying to see if the local Auto Zone has one in stock.
I'll report my findings with EGR, etc
btw, I've updated my profile info... it was a bit off base!
Any thoughts on popping this EGR Valve up?
Its look and will spin
I've tried the wire/ and bar trick
Crows foot trick
Long screwdriver
Large pump pliers to grip and lift.
Just cant get it passed those O rings
Pry bar and wire, pump pliers to twist with pull pressure straight up. You have to be careful to pull really straight, the bore is tight and it binds easy. If its never been out, you could be in for a job, and a little sweat, but it will come. Maybe just pick up a new one so if you have to be brutal, you can clean and vacuum the hole outs and pop a new one in.
You got it out Ed, so there will be 1 code for egr because of the disconnection, write all numbers down when you scan and do the process of elimination
the O-rings looked ok this time but next time you pull EGR replace both they will be Orange, Benny has the full PIDs for the Scan Gauge, but the ones you need right now will be the Three FICM, ALT,BATTS, then you can enter EOT,WTC (ECT),MAP BARO,EBP,BST. you will see when the PIDS are there, Just make sure you enter the pids numbers correctly some D look like O , and then the numbers will look the same after awhile. Sorry my Aurther ritiz is feeling good today
Well.. test drive is done. Big difference on acceleration, still not gonna break any speed records but is a improvement. Doesn't seem as rough on start up.
my actron didn't get any codes.
I believe until I get a Scan Gauge I can't perform a FICM test
It had only smoked that one time for about 20 seconds when I accelerated from an intersection... haven't seen it since.
The egr valve and below was dry.
I have noticed an oil leak someplace on top of the intake.. not sure what its from. It appears to flow down the back side of the engine to the bottom of the trans..but doesn't leak onto the ground.. go figure!

Wow.. that's a lot of information. Thank you. I'll have to search out everything your talking about but I'll find it. I've done my share of wrench turning on the vette and other gas engines. The diesel is a bit overwhelming, but like anything else.. if a person is willing to learn they will figure it out.
