For resale only: Make it mechanically sound and sell it. You can not do the rust repair and paint and still come out ahead unless capable of doing it yourself. Paint: Base coat/clear coat will appeal to more people.
Is that a hood prop? Why would you be thinking about re-sale value? If there is rust through, you must address that before clear coating or painting. If your just going to sell it, make it mechanically sound and safe then sell it.
That rust will be a lot of work to fix correctly. If you are doing body work yourself you can maybe come out ahead if you don't count your hours. Who knows, after putting that much blood and sweat into her you may want to rethink selling.....
Rust outs are not a quick bondo fix as most all needs to be cut out with a patch panel welded back in it's place. Maybe a good time to take some welding classes to get you started.
Then by the time you finish if you do then you won't be in a hurry to sell it as you'll have hundred of hrs of sweat and time into your piece of art..orich
i bought some paint on ebay recently. Very reasonable price I sure do hope it is decent. I only got a quart to do bumpers and wheels so not a huge gamble. The white pearl they sell is about 1/3 of price of Nason so I hope it is good stuff.
