Just being polite.
So a little background on me: I have always worked on stuff. Always been a tinkerer, builder, mechanic, jack of all trades. Although at his point I don't own a truck, I have been planning a build for over a year.
For the build, a 68, or 69 F-100. Sheet metal, frame and glass will be all that is left of the original vehicle. This truck is going to have everything a new vehicle has except that it won't be a run of the mill truck. It is gonna be COOL.
Stage 1: Fatman IFS, Ride Tech air shocks and E controller, 4-Link rear end, Watts linkage, C-notch, Raised wood bed, Wilwood 14" 6 piston calipers all the way around, and of course wheels and tires of the overgrown variety!
Stage 2" Coyote motor, Tremec 6sp, 30 gallon fuel cell behind the rear axle, aeromotive fuel delivery, Aluminum rad and elec fans.
Stage 3: Vintage Air environmental. A/C, Heat and defrost, early Mustang bucket seats, all interior and trimwork gone through and reconditioned.
Stage 4: Bodywork and paint, audio, video, etc.
I recently retired after a 23 year career in law enforcement so I have plenty of time to do the project. Doing it in stages is going to allow me to work any bugs out before final paint and assembly. I am looking forward to starting this project and will be posting a build log as things progress. The only thing holding up the start of the build is a very nice and redone 1973 Opel GT taking up space in my garage! Any takers?
So, just thought I would say hello and introduce myself.
There is a wealth of knowledge and experience in here.
Btw, there is a really cool 70 Bump on the cover and featured in the November 2013 issue of Custom Classic Trucks magazine. Check it out. It is very close to what you have described in your plan.
Ya might wanna rethink the early Mustang buckets unless you plan to use TMI's "sport seat" foam and upholstery. I've driven my 65 and 68 long distances and stock seats feel like an upholstered park bench after a while. And if planning to use early Mustang buckets, start haunting the salvage yards, Ebay, FTE, and Fordification for a set. Alternatively, there is a guy over in Fordification named "Bill" who sells near repros of them. My search for OEMs ended after three years.... .
