communication radio interferance
I was having trouble with my mobile two way radio in my 2012 F250 super duty, channel 6 would have lots of static and you couldn't hear any of the haul trucks coming on the logging roads, so I brought my radio in for service and there was nothing wrong with the radio and the radio tech said the trucks computer frequency was transmitting on the same frequency as channel 6 and I would have to get Ford to change the computers transmitting frequency. First, has anyone here had this problem and second is it possible to change the computer frequency?
Thanks in Advance
1. Probably caused by a poor ground in the installation. The computer's clock is very well shielded if everything was actually put together correctly.
2. Not no, but heck no!
Is this a hand held unit in a drop in base, or is it a fixed radio mounted in the truck?
I find it very hard to believe that the "truck's computer" could be putting out that kind of radio interference noise.
Maybe you should do some poking around in the radio mount's wiring yourself?
Check the truck's ground points and clean them.
Then you may want to add a filter to the alternator.
A poorly function diode will make a lot of noise.
Here is one thing that most people don't think about
when it comes to grounding is the alternator case to
engine point. That is the ground for most alternators.
If it's got corrosion on ti or the bolts. Clean it too.
Have you installed anything like aftermarket lights?
Cheap HID's will give you fits.
