Hi everyone. I have a 1995 Bronco with a 5.0 MAF and was wondering what engine upgrades you might recommend without doing a complete engine overhaul. primarily bolt ons. Thanks
exhaust will be your most bang for buck at this point. headers, bassani y pipe or custome built y pipe and a single 2.5" - 3" running out stock location with your choice of muffler. Flowmasters sound good but cause a good amount of drone in the cab while driving, this can get annoying.
look on google for the sixltre tune up.
is the bronco stock otherwise? what size tires are you running. what do you plan to use the bronco for?
It is all stock. plan on running 33's with a 4" lift. I have seen a ton of options on the web. Just wondering what others have used that has been money well spent. I was thinking about new throttle body, cam and lifters, exhaust, new ignition module, along with a few other goodies for the ignition system. I want to use as a semi-daily driver. No hill climbing or desert running just more hp and fun to drive.
Personally I would tell you to take the 5.0 and replace it with a 5.8, that's the single best upgrade you can do, and you'll be way ahead on the money. From the sale price of the 5.0 you will be able to do the sort of mods Kem is advicing.
being that your 95 is MAF you can do cam, heads and throttle body to really wake it up. the stock 5.0 upper/lower intake will flow plenty. the ford ignition is actually pretty decent for what your use of the vehicle is. your not making power at 5500+ rpms so no need for anything more. Depending on where you live also must thing smog/emission regs
with 33" tires you will want to upgrade the gearing to 4.10s at least, this would be money in the bank vs engine mods that may not give the grunt improvment to move the tires like gears would.
Keep the 5.0L if it runs good, like kemicalburns mentioned regear.. I would go 4.88's with 33's and especially with a 5.0L. I would "not" do any internal mods.
Just upgrade the intake and open up the exhaust to compliment the gear change... good luck.
Yep, leave the factory intake in place, but switch out the snorkel part for a more desirable 4.9 or 7.5 piece. Stay with the stock type filter, and do not get KN junk.
With 33 inch tires the 5.0 needs a minimum of 4.10 gears. Id go with 4.56, since it has overdrive. This engine lacks low end torque and benefits from low gears. This is the most important thing.
The 5.0 plenum has larger runners than it needs to, so there is no point in replacing it.
I nice single 2.5 to 3 inch exhaust with something like a Magnaflow muffler exiting in the stock location is about as good of a setup you can do.
For the Y pipe Bassani any Magnaflow both have nice units.
If you decide on headers get the Summit Truck headers that are made by Pacesetter.
DO NOT fall for snake oil like TB spacers, Tornado, BS spark plugs etc.
