Problems starting
Here's the scoop, 92 150 xlt 4x4 auto. Was running fine on till I parked it for a month now it wont start without a small shot of starting fluid. It runs but when I put it in gear it bogs down and wants to stall. It will rev but sputters and pops a little sometimes. Most of the time if I let it run for about 15 minutes or so the idle drops from 1000 back to 750 then has all its power back and runs great again. I swapped out the idle air control valve on the side of the throttle body but no good. I was thinking the fuel filter next but any suggestions would help.. Thanks!
If you have more than 30k miles (50k kilometers) on the fuel filter then it's due to be changed. I don't know if that's the source of the problem, though.
have you pulled codes yet? You can use an inexpensive code scanner to get them, or you can follow the instructions here to read out the codes on your MIL, a test light, or a voltmeter if you can't find a OBDI code scanner.

Checking for codes may tell you/us what the root cause is.

"Open loop" and "closed loop" describe two modes of operation of the computer control on the Ford PCM. At start, when cold, and under full acceleration, the PCM uses predefined values; when warm and idling, cruising, coasting, or under part-throttle acceleration, the PCM uses feedback from the exhaust gas O2 sensor to control the amount of fuel injected. The predefined values are used in open-loop conditions; the feedback system is used in closed-loop conditions.
Anyway.. It was a bad computer . Runs great now. I did more research on YouTube and some people had the same problem. When I opened the computer to change out the capacitors they had leaked all over and toasted it. Come to find out that problem is very common in these fords. If you never changed your capacitors you should check on them and make sure they're not damaged or leaking. It was only $100 part at advanced auto. Bring in your old so they can Id it and you can get your core charge.
