Electrical connector missing from filter minder

2003 7.3......While looking at my air filter I noticed that there was no electrical connector to my filter minder on my stock air box. I couldn't find it hanging loose anywhere, but I've never noticed an electrical connector attached in the past. Is the connector deleted on some engines? Maybe this is a generic filter minder that can be used with engines that have the dash indicator...and mine doesn't?

Could we see a pic? I see a connector to the air intake temp sensor, but I thought the filter minder was passive.

Do you have the yellow 'restricted air filter' icon on your dash?

I never noticed that particular icon on my dash. Therefore, I assume it is just a generic minder?

My '03 7.3 has an electrical connector on the filter minder, as well as the restricted filter icon in the instrument cluster.

I thought this was standard on '02 and '03 as our '02 Ex has it as well. Could be just Lariat/Limited packages?

That is a cool feature. I wonder if, like the cruise indicator for early '99, its already on our '00-'01 dashes waiting to be awakened...

I see on the filterminder website they make electonic sender versions.

My F250 is a fully loaded Lariat. I'll go out in a bit to see if it lights up on the dash, but again, I've never noticed it. I do know that I'm missing the electrical wires and connector that plugs into my filter minder.

IIRC, when they went through some minor changes beginning of the '02 model year (including the dash redesign), Ford went to a wired filter minder that illuminated a light on the dash if it is either disconnected or if the minder is pulled all the way in. My XLT has it.

The only thing ready to be "awakened" on a 2000 (and maybe a 2001) is the "THEFT" light that the Excursions use with their PATS.

I used it for something similar, and I went all over the back side of the instrument panel looking for anything else.

Just got back home and I checked my cluster and I do have the icon on my dash. Now I need to know where my wiring and connector went.

But if it is unplugged, I would think the indicator should be lit?

This thing has me baffled. I don't ever remember unplugging or removing the electrical connection. Can anyone tell me where their wires lead to? Maybe I can trace mine if I know where the wires go to.

Look down from above at the space behind the airbox, between the brake fluid reservoir and the fender. There are the two relays for the trailer there. Below them, there is a rat's nest of wiring harness insanity. My airbox tender wiring goes into that nightmare.

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!

Dang connector fell down in that exact location. Why and how it came unplugged I have no clue. Maybe I unplugged it a long time ago while changing out the filter and forgot about it.

Having become unplugged, would that cause the minder not to function? I asked this in another thread saying that my minder stays bottomed out and never moves.

I don't think unplugging it would damage it, but they can gum up over time.
