3.5 duratec

Was looking at used flexes and was wondering how many miles that the duratec 35motor should go for? I get the up keep argument but was looking for real world application. I was thinking 150k did some research saw a few with 145ish but nothing more....any one out there seen more miles since this 3.5 came out in 06 I believe? great motor imo as my father has an 09 and have driven it probably 5k of its 27k on it....thanks in advance.

We have the 3.5 V6 in my wifes 08 Taurus X, bout it used with 11K miles on it. She now has just over 95K and it runs as good as the day we bought it. I've only done oil Changes every 3K nothing else has been done. Great Motor.

A good motor and a good bargain

I have a '13 Edge and I love the 3.5. I have 18,000 on mine and it hauls. I think the reliability issue tilts in your favor. I also have a 6 yr. old Escape with the 3.0 motor and we've had no probs whatsoever, and we bought it new as well. I think you'll be pleased with the Edge. The Synch takes a little getting used to, but once you do, you'll love it too.

Have a 2008 Edge that my wife mainly drives. Bought it with 7100 miles and currently has 45,000 with no issues other than having to replace the tires and front brakes. Great motor with some get up and go.

My wife's 2007 Edge we bought new has 220,000 trouble free miles on it. The oil change is even usually a few thousand over due, and I have never changed the spark plugs. It doesnt burn any oil. It idles and runs silky smooth, and is still a quick ride. The engine is bullet proof as is the car. The only thing besides brakes I have done to it, is change the right front wheel bearing, and replace the electric cooling fans. The upper control arm bushings are in need of replacement in the rear. Not bad for as many miles as this car has on it. The best part is it is as nice of a car as it ever was. As long as it stays this way I am going to see how far it will go.
