IIRC 2001 was the last produced full cartridge update. Beyond that you have to get the programmable cartridges and go find a Snap On man to program them for you, if they even will anymore. Support officially ended in 2009. Most have moved onto the Solis.
So, if I score some 2001 cartridges it should still read the codes and work on the 02 7.3 right? There were not a lot of changes in the 7.3 between 01 and 02 in the motor. Or should I just scrap it and stick with the scangauge for now?
You can get generic OBDII codes, that's about it. There was a later global cartridge that did some canbus stuff, but you need the proper adapters for it. I have a 99 cartridge in mine and still use it to pull codes if needed. No diagnostics post 99. If you get the 01 cartridge and tell it you are working on an 01, it may let you pass...
