I have a 2000 Ford f250 7.3 What it is when the check engine light but when put a scanner on it but it can't find a code in it want erase do yall think the computer is bad

The 7.3 doesnt use obd ii, drop down to the 7.3 section to learn how to get the codes.

not all code readers will read diesels. you need a diesel specific scanner to retrieve the diagnostic codes from your 2000 diesel.

My late 99 has a OBDII plug and my snap-on scanner can read and reset codes and get live data, I dont know and truck or car built from 90 and up that doenst have and OBDII connector!!!!

no fords before 94 or 95 had OBDII connectors. before that it was EEC-IV connector under the hood next to the driver side hood hinge.

Same problem I have had to learn. From 96 on all cars and trucks had to be OBDII compliant. The Diesel trucks got an exemption till about the year 2000. I have a 97 with the OBDII port but I have used several scanners and it will not read it. Some kind of hybrid system. Now my neighbors Snap on unit will read it. And I got an ELM327 unit and it can read all the signals, I don't recall if it would read the codes. It has been a while.
