Nathaniel, its as if you feel like YOUR doing us some kind of favor by asking incomplete questions that require us to keep asking you for more info............There are some pretty darned knowledgeable guys here, when ive had questions those guys have helped me a bunch, but you need to go into more detail, otherwise your just wasting everyones time, or dont you understand that?
That's basically all i know. It was used as a plow truck, i know the engine has a lot of miles on it, then my dad bought it, drove it for a few months, and parked it. I was considering a 390 swap, then i disregarded it thinking i should just keep it the way it is, although, I am still considering a four speed, but that's later on down the road when I get it running and driving. That is literally all i know about the truck.
I've yet to see a motor that's physically locked up......pull all the plugs, soak the cylinders in MMO. let it sit 2 days....put a breaker bar on the crank snout....it should turn
Wait, how can you know the tranny works if the engine wont budge? you got it from your great uncle, but you say your dad bought it? How do you KNOW its a 460, not a 390? Each time, it seems like the story changes a bit.......What about the engine oil and water, have you checked those? i mean if its got oil in the water, or vice versa, the engine coulda locked up
If that motor is stuck that bad I'd say you will have to tear it apart. The last one I freed up was a 390 in dry storage for the last 25 years. Did the soaking for a few days and got it loose by hand. I thought all was well but after running it we noticed it lacked power. Anyways after running it for about a year it was time to see why it lacked power. Every top ring was broken. They are very fragile so keep that in mind.
I'm sorry for all the confusion, the truck was originally a plow truck before my dad bought it, the 460 was swapped in? when the last owners had it, if its not stock. My dad drove it for a little, then gave it to my great uncle. He never got around to using, for some reason he used his old one. He then gave it to me 2 months ago after it had sat for 8 years. I then put MMO into the cylinders, and after a month of letting it sit (and checking it at least twice a week) still won't budge.
i had a 460 that sat for sometime, i dumped a crap lad of oil in it ( over filled it ) and let it sit for a few weeks and bamm she broke loose but just like PA74F250 said you could damage something, i ran that smokey motor for about a year and then blew a had gasket.

Sounds like you broke more rings than I did lol. The 390 I did that to didn't smoke at all it was just a dog.
No Question, None.........a 460 NEVER, EVER, EVER came in a 75 F250 Highboy from the factory........Motor stuck, WHY? Nathaniel, you still havent answered the question about oil in water, or vice versa........Did the engine seize, or was it overheating and froze up as a result of?
